The Meaning of Larkspur

I have an immense fondness for both plants and mythology. These two interests intersect to create an interest in flower symbolism. I chose the Larkspur, not only because it is beautiful, but also due to its' symbolism. For the larkspur to bloom, it has to go through a time of stress. Common in many different mythologies, Larkspur, depending on the colour, is often used to symbolise an open heart, happiness, new beginnings, support, trust, and protection. I felt that due to all of these reasons, Larkspur represents my approach to counselling quite well. Counselling is a journey through difficulty into resilience. It’s a time for new beginnings and a way to build trust, in yourself or others, and a way to work towards happiness.
